GW Conservation was founded in 2007 by Geoff Wallis as a consultancy following his retirement from Dorothea Restorations Ltd, which he founded with others in the 1970's and directed for over thirty years.
The practise has carried out many prestigious and challenging consultancies over recent years, and has built up a reputation with many national bodies including the National Trust and Historic England. Regular training sessions in the conservation of historic metalwork and machinery are provided in the UK, and increasingly overseas, including in Myanmar, Zanzibar and India.
GW Conservation has worked closely for many years with Wallis Conservation Ltd (Trading as Dorothea Restorations) which is now run by his son John which itself has been carrying out consultancy work for the past 10 years. The two organizations are now amalgamating, combining the resources of both into a consultancy with unparalleled experience in the conservation of historic machinery and metalwork.
